Problems You Face When You Have A Soft Heart

“Softhearted people are not fools, they know what people did to them but they forgive again and again because they have beautiful hearts.” – Anonymous

1. They will always support others

With so many selfish people in the world, the softhearted ones are the ones still willing to offer support. Although some may run to a softhearted person not only for support but to take advantage of them, the softhearted person still offers a shield to anyone who needs assistance. When you run for support to a person with a soft heart, you will never be rejected. People who are still willing to help others are who hold this world together.

2. They have a lot of strength beneath our softness

I was talking to a friend once and he admitted that the people who act hard and tough on the outside are the ones who are really afraid and soft on the inside; while the people who are considered softhearted are the ones who are really strong on the inside. Don’t you consider it endearing and courageous to continue to practice kindness, humility and sincerity in the face of being exploited or criticized for it?

3. They carry the burden of the world

It may seem weighty and appear to make them weary, but softhearted people are not overwhelmed by the task of carrying lots of responsibility. They appreciate the burden and the treasure that was given to them to carry. No matter how the world sees it, they find this task easier than everyone will think. Philanthropy is never a burden to them.

4. They want to offer light to end the darkness

Many live behind fake masks and are not genuine. Expectations are not met and emotions are blown. However with softhearted people you find truth and loyality. A softhearted person will never blame a single person for the world’s many problems. Such wonderful people offer genuine insight to where we should go next and they help everyone through hard times.

5. They are rare

It would be better if softhearted people were in abundance. To have only a few softhearted people seems to be a problem on the surface. But on the other hand this offers every softhearted person out there an opportunity to showcase their wonderful gifts of love, compassion and kindness.

6. They want to free the world of pain

Pain and agony is what we see everywhere, on different media. And it can be exhausting. We start to wish that it wasn’t there. But instead of only wishing for better time, you can find a softhearted person trying to make your world seemingly distant from the pain. Their positive spirit overshadows the despair and offers light, belief and hope.

7. They are eager to lead when others retreat

The softhearted person’s enthusiasm to perform when others are naive and retreat can be animating and exceptional. It is confusing to appreciate this because people have become so familiar with injustice and deserving less. People have been so used to being abused they don’t think they should be pitied. Instead they think that they deserve whatever they get. In such times of demotivation the softhearted continue to lead while others retreat.

8. They don’t take the world too seriously

If we all took the world of pain and worries too seriously, we will lack humor and a sense of progress. Softhearted people make better choices in the society all while keeping a good humor. They make the world better, friendlier and nicer. We all need to smile through the pain sometimes and softhearted people will help you accomlish that.

It is our hope that softhearted people are not influenced by their decisions of doing good regardless of the ills that have taken over the world.

Things Matter to Life that People Always Forget

Most of us are completely aware of the big stuff we need to do in order to have fulfilling lives, but what about the little things? Those little things that we forget to do in life matter greatly!

Embracing these seemingly small aspects about life is what can empower us and equip us with the tools to live more fulfilling lives. So, what are the 15 things we should remember about life but very often forget?

Read on and as you discover each point, make it a life goal to remember them always.

1.  Be completely honest

We are all taught to believe that lying, deceiving, or keeping information from others is wrong but, what about lying to ourselves? We have the courage to be brutally honest with others, but we are cowards when it comes to being honest with ourselves.

Yet sometimes, the only truth that can make a difference is the one we admit when we look at ourselves in the mirror. And sometimes, that truth is the only one that can set us free.

2. Have the guts to pursue your dreams

Sure, the entire world is telling you that you are wasting your time, but in your heart, you know you are doing what you were born to be. Press on! People that put you down when you share your goals with them don’t understand the purpose of life.

They don’t understand that living a life without fulfilling what you feel you were meant to do is truly a life wasted. You have a unique gift in life, one that this world needs to see and experience. Believe in your heart that you were created with a purpose, and believe that you were created for greatness.

3. Honor your parents

This one may be difficult…Yet, there is something sacred and honest about doing honoring your parents. Regardless of the circumstances, you are here because of them.

Appreciate the opportunity of having family and being a part of something that goes beyond choice. After all, you didn’t choose your parents, God chose them for you! So be thankful and honor them.

4. Forgive but don’t forget

Holding a grudge is really not a pretty thing to hold onto. Be willing to forgive, but don’t force yourself to forget others’ wrongdoings.

Being let down is an important life lesson, so forgive, but don’t feel you must forget. It is completely OK to remember what you’ve been through as it will enable you to be grateful for who you have become.

5. Remember that your smile can change the world

You have a very powerful tool that can truly change the world around you – your smile. You have the ability to try and make someone’s day 100% better just by sharing a simple smile! In addition, sharing a smile with a stranger will empower you to remove fears as it will inevitably make you step out of your comfort zone.

6. Enjoy silence

In a world where we are constantly bombarded with cellphones, televisions, radios and every other device that keeps you forever connected, it is imperative that you take time to enjoy silence. Enjoy the quietness that surrounds you, recharge yourself and rediscover your thoughts.

7. Live in the present

Yesterday is gone – learn from it. Tomorrow has not yet come, so prepare for it.

Today is here – fully enjoy it because you will never again have this exact moment. Be willing to experience each second of life you have been gifted, because life is too short and precious to waste it thinking about what was or what could be.

8. Do not judge others

Nothing is gained by judging people. Instead, your self-righteousness will most definitely blind you from becoming your very best. Respect everyone around you, but honestly, just worry about yourself, who you can become and what you can accomplish.

9. Help others fulfill their dreams

The amazing Zig Ziglar once said, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.” Live a life of service to others and you will never feel alone, defeated or unsuccessful.

10. Surround yourself with positive influences

When life gets tough, it is crucial for you to have a strong support system that influences you in a positive way. Strive to surround yourself with positive minds. and strive to remove any negative energy from your life.

Besides, positive influences can empower you to continue your pursuit towards living a more purposeful life.

11. Don’t lose hope

Regardless of the circumstances you may be facing, believe that there is always a way out.  As long as you are breathing, there is room for growth, change, and hope. There is always hope, it is everywhere, you just need to keep looking!

12. Be kind…even if others don’t “deserve” it

Call it Karma, the golden rule, or whatever else you like. But you must remember to always be kind!

Be kind, not just towards those who treat you right, but also towards the not-so-kind folks. Your actions may teach them a lesson and your heart will remain pure.

13. Fight for love

Love is truly a blessing when you find it, but it is not all bliss. Yet, if you have found your one true love, fight for it! Also remember that it is more than butterflies and gifts, it is unconditionally accepting and embracing the good and bad in others. Love will always be worth the fight.

14. Be a good listener

When others talk, listen. Don’t just watch their mouths move as you plan what to say next, truly listen.

Study their word usage, their tone, their eyes. Give everyone the respect their words deserve.

15. Always keep a book with you

Time is precious and we are forever running out of it. Redeem each moment passing by and keep a book handy; strive to learn something new each day! Reading is not only relaxing, but works out our minds in a way like nothing else can.

Reasons Why You Should Admire Naughty Kids

They can be loud, obnoxious and insistent on getting their own way. Or they are sly, devious and untrustworthy. Naughty kids are worth avoiding.

Or are they?

While exhausted parents may dream of the day their kids become beautifully behaved, would you really want Stepford Kids?  Would you not miss out on some of the most determined, entrepreneurial and sensitive people you’ll have the opportunity to meet.

And think about it. Were you always perfectly behaved when you were a kid? Or even now? Do you sometimes still get angry, have a tantrum or dig your heels in? Do you ever give up when the going gets tough or refuse to eat food that you think looks disgusting? Are you ever rude or impatient?

These kids are normal human beings, just like you. And some of those “naughty” traits might just turn out to be early signs of leadership when they are older. Here’s how:

1. They are independent

All too often, ‘naughty’ is a word we use for kids who think for themselves. While conformity is admired at school, our greatest entrepreneurs, scientists and artists do things their own way. Often, the qualities of these kids is not appreciated until much later in life, when their ability to think for themselves and make things happen drives their success. Think of Richard Branson, Albert Einsten and Lady Gaga, all of whom ‘failed’ at school.

2. They are creative

Naughty kids don’t just think for themselves, they often think differently from others. Their creativity cannot be curbed. While adults get told to ‘think out of the box’ these kids have never been in the box in the first place.

3. They are sensitive

Often the most sensitive kids are the ones who are written off as naughty. They can’t stand pain or injustice, and so kick off into a tantrum when they see it. In little children, this is often on their own behalf. As they grow up, and their ability to empathize develops, their sensitivity can lead to deep acts of generosity towards others in need.

4. They have conviction

Great world-changing leaders, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Aung Sang Suu Kyi, could not be described as easy people. Awkward and opinionated may be a fairer description. But they lived with conviction and determination, fighting injustice despite imprisonment and persecution, and toppled despotic regimes as a result. It’s not quite as inspiring when the ‘despotic regime’ is actually a parent wanting to get their child to eat their vegetables!

5. They are strong

Human beings are social animals. Having the willpower to stand up to social pressures is impressive. Kids who go against the grain, dressing differently, following their own interests and speaking their mind are demonstrating courage and strength. In their teen years, when separation from parental control is normal, being downright rude and obnoxious can be a way of subconsciously driving that separation, while proving to the kids that they still have the safety of their parents love.

6. They want to be understood

Kids often get loud or have a tantrum when they feel disrespected or unheard. Although this may not be the most constructive way to get their point across, these kids have found a way to communicate their wants, something many of us have subsumed to the demands of other people (including those same kids!). Often, children will calm down if they feel you’ve understood them, even if the answer is still “no.”

7. They say what is on their mind

We’ve all had those moments when a child has said exactly what they are thinking, probably at the top of their voices. They tell relatives when they don’t like the expensive present they’ve been given. They point and stare at people with visible disabilities.  Rude though these comments may be, your kid’s directness is often meant as honesty without malice. They don’t intend to hurt anyone’s feelings. They are curious, rather than judgmental, about people who are different. What is more, they will speak the truths that everyone else is thinking but no-one else has the honesty to voice.

8. They have energy

Although they may seem far more angelic when they sleep, your kid’s energy is admirable. It is the energy of athletes, adventurers and leaders. Like puppies, your kids may need to be given opportunities (both physical and mental) to burn off their energy. That exercise will develop their capacity and their ability to control themselves.

9. They are ambitious

Have you ever had a picture in your head, but when you try to draw it, it looks nothing like your ideal? Your kids haven’t yet learned that this is normal. They haven’t yet learned to cope with the frustration. The resulting tantrum is an expression of the gap between the quality of their original vision and their inability to perfectly realize that vision. It demonstrates ambition and discernment.

10. They are scientists

Kids (like the rest of us) learn by doing. They are great problem solvers, full of cunning and resourcefulness. They learn by trying something and seeing what happens. Naughty kids are just trying stuff out. Loud, destructive, difficult stuff, perhaps. But that is how they learn what works and what doesn’t. And that is how they also discover that you, their parents, still love them, even if they are naughty. Because…

So remember, being good all the time would only hold them back. And you wouldn’t want that, would you?

Amazing Things That Will Happen When You Stop Caring What Other People Think

Where would you be if you learned how to stop caring what other people think?

Would you be fulfilling your childhood dream of being a garbage man?

Would you be traveling the globe, helping out those in need?

Would you become a rapper?

As humans, we have a primal need to fit in. In order to be initiated into the tribe, we try to come across as “normal” people. We often express ourselves conservatively, in order to not come across as weird or awkward.

The truth is everyone is normal (average) until you really get to know them. Owning your actions and making yourself vulnerable in front of others can be incredibly difficult at times but in the end it is healthier for you and for those around you. Here are 12 reasons why you should stop caring what other people think.

1. You use less energy filtering your words and actions, and expend more energy on creating relationships

If interacting with others is like driving a car, then filtering your words and actions is like putting speed bumps all over your highway of interaction. The more speed bumps you have, the slower you have to go to avoid losing control of your car. It becomes incredibly difficult to gain momentum, and takes a long time to reach your final destination (making an emotional connection and mutually benefiting each other). Isn’t that why we interact with people?

The more you filter yourself, the less people will truly get to know you. You might be a Mercedes Benz in your head, but as you constantly filter yourself, you’re going to come across as an old, beat-up Ford Pinto.

2. You become much more attractive

There is something inherently attractive about someone who doesn’t care what other people think. I’m not saying that more people will like you; there is a difference between being likeable and being attractive. Having an indifferent, carefree attitude is refreshing and contagious, and is a great way to help others break out of their “autopilot”.

Think of it this way. If you’re confident and don’t care what others think, people are going to want to be noticed by you, not use you to feel better about themselves.

3. You attract people that are good for you, and eliminate the ones that aren’t

Having a mindset of not caring what others think is a self-weeding garden. The people that appreciate your opinions and enjoy your company will stick with you, while the people that don’t like you will stay away from you.

The feeling of being well-liked is great, but having too many friends can be stressful and difficult to manage. You have to ask yourself if you want a wide array of shallow relationships with acquaintances, or a more concentrated group of deep and meaningful friendships.

4. You don’t feel obligated to change yourself for people

You don’t have to wear a ton of hats for all your different social situations. Trying to fit into a variety of groups can be exhausting, and is not a worthwhile endeavor. It is healthier and less stressful to simply be respected for being who you want to be.

5. You please yourself instead of trying to please everyone

Who are you really living for? It’s not selfish to please yourself at times, because after all, you are at the center of your own universe. Doing things for others is a great way to boost your self-esteem, but you have to ask yourself: am I getting what I want out of life?

6. You feel free

When was the last time you truly felt free as a bird? Free from the fear of failure? Free from the bondage to a life chosen for you by others? Free from social constructs that prevent you from doing what you want to do?

Not caring what other people think is a great first step on your way to this nirvana.

7. You start enjoying interactions more

It is easiest to get the most out of interactions with others when you are outcome-independent. When you aren’t trying to convince others that you are a really cool person or trying to sway their opinion on something, you can spend time basking in the beauty of a mentally-stimulating interaction.

When you genuinely don’t care whether someone likes you or not, it is easiest to be yourself and paradoxically this makes it easier to connect with people!

8. You rely more on yourself for happiness, not others

When you look inward to gain happiness as opposed to judging your own value based on others, it is significantly easier to obtain a sustainable happiness that stays with you, regardless of how other people’s lives affect you. Other people’s happiness comes and goes, and it is not healthy to rely on others when trying to maximize your own happiness.

9. People will feel more comfortable around you

Living with an intense fear of social judgement can lead some people to a shy demeanor that severely limits their social contributions. Being more of a quiet type is not a negative thing, but it can cause some apprehension at times.

According to recent studies, we have about 50000 thoughts per day. If you don’t share any of these thoughts, people can get nervous. If you never share anything, how do they know you aren’t an ax murderer? How do they know you don’t run science experiments on small animals in your free time?

These examples are a bit extreme, but the fact is you feel more comfortable around people that you know and understand. When you live silently, you may know that you aren’t a crazy person, but others may be left with an uncomfortable apprehension about you.

10. You subconsciously allow other people to stop caring what other people think

Emotional contagion is a powerful tool.

When you have the mindset of not caring what other people think, it is easy for that mindset to become contagious and be adopted by others. When people know that they aren’t being silently judged, they can feel more comfortable in their own skin, and they anchor that feeling to the person who allows them to obtain that feeling – You.

Reasons Why Your High School Friends Are Your Lifelong Friends

Whether we like it or not, we are all like to be connected to our teenage years in some way. High school friends bring that connection. This is why people set up Facebook groups and organize reunions to relive the moments from the past. Your high school friends will always remain lifelong friends and here are 20 reasons why.

1. You grew up together

In high school you pretty much grew up with your friends. You all went to the same movies, walked down the same hallways, listened to the same kind of music, and got used to each other as you grew up in the strong social environment high school presented to you.

2. They are a place to return to

Your high school friends offer you a place to return to no matter how much time or distance separates you. With your high school friends you can always return back home to laugh about the dumb things that you did.

3. They were there for you through your earliest heartbreaks

Your high school friends stuck with you while you were absolutely humiliated by that one person you ever liked or dated.

4.They were the friends who never really judged you

Somehow they were comfortable around you, whether you ate so much on any given night or a fast food run.

5.They offer you a sense of hometown pride

They are the only ones who can take you through that feeling that your hometown will always be special. Whether your hometown is noteworthy or not they will relive its glory and pleasant memories with you any day, anytime.

6.They offer the best reunions

When you reconnect with a high school friend it is like nothing has ever changed. It could be the “group” you belonged to, or that you saw each other literally for seven times a day, or the sports you played. With your high school friends you get back into the swing of things in a millisecond.

7. You had enough time to build your friendship

In high school you were enclosed in a space and had every day to build your friendship. Such helped to create groups you became in tune with.

8. They offer grounding

Your high school friends offer you a unique element, elements that defined you as you grew up. Even when you are lost in a new environment, they are the ones who still remain unforgettable in your heart.

9. They would hang out with you no matter what

During the times when your parents still had to drive you to the movies or before you could go out to get drinks they were the ones who were there to stay at your side. It wasn’t about convenience, it was about commitment.

10. You identified with their families

Since you spent so much time with your high school friends, getting to know their parents was inevitable. You knew their families in such a way that they seemed to be an extension of your own.

11.You took special photos together

Photos with your high school friends remind you of exuberance and enthusiasm. All the long, posed photobooth sessions gave you some of your best profile pictures.

12.They understand you just by your body expressions

Your high school friends don’t require you to say it all before they get the message. You can communicate very well with just facial expressions.

13.They are the only ones who can tell you how the story turned out for your former classmates

They seem to have an updated version of every classmate’s story. With only high school friends can you discuss what became of those random classmates from high school.

14.They can share all of the inside jokes with you

The inside jokes you shared amidst your friend circle still remain funny no matter the passage of time. Even new friends cannot be able to relate with this. It is like a code of honor between you and your high school friends.

15.You had your fair share of dramas and fights

There were times you didn’t talk to each other because of something incredibly stupid. But you were able to patch things up and make your relationship stronger than before.

16.You made promises to each other

Yes as much as they were right there to support you through the toughest days of your life, you promised each other that you will stick with each other through future memorable events, like your wedding or your baby showers.

17.They were your best therapist

Somehow they were the only ones who could understand your mood swings, like when you wanted a Big Mac or you wanted a tub of chocolate chip ice cream. They could also relate with the fact that there were times when you were depressed and that your best way of expressing anger was damaging things.

18.You kept some of each other’s stuff

Yes you didn’t just grow apart with time; you also took something from each other and kept it with you. It may be your friend’s clothes, some books, a mix CD or even a note.

19.You survived the toughest period of teenage years with them

All those awkward years of raging hormones and trying to find a solution to a difficult mathematics problem is enough to tie you together like a blood pact. Somehow your high school friends helped you survive through that period.

20.They have an entire archive of your embarrassing stories

They know the nicknames you were called in high school and how awful those embarrassing moments in high school made you feel. They still have some evidence and can pull them out at any given moment to remind you how stupid you were, and laugh with you. They know you!

7 Powerful Questions to Help You Find Your Life Purpose

Do you know your life purpose? Many people earn a decent living, but would define success as much more than money. For many it is also about happiness, positive relationships and the ability to contribute to something you care about.

Here are 7 questions you should ask yourself if you are trying to discover your life purpose.

1. What were you passionate about as a child?

What did you find emotionally fulfilling when you were younger? From writing to building figurines, children are actively encouraged to follow their passions. However, we often stop doing the things we were passionate about as a child. Often this is due to a lack of time, or pressure from society to pursue something that comes with a (often financial) reward.

Consider your childhood passions. Do you still practice your childhood passions? If not, why? Would you still feel passionately about the same things now?

2. If you didn’t have a job, how would you choose to fill those hours?

If you didn’t have to work and you weren’t allowed to stay in the house, how would you choose to spend that time? Where would you go? In the evenings, many people like to relax and unwind. However, unlimited free time often encourages people to fill the time in a productive manner. Write down a few ways you would spend your free time, and then try one out on your next day off.

3. What makes you forget about the world around you?

When you are working on your life purpose, you often completely lose track of time. Often people don’t notice the hours passing by, and can even forget to eat or drink until they have finished. When is the last time you felt this way?

4. What issues do you hold close to your heart?

What topics do you like to read about? Think about what interests you most on the news, online, or in the area you love. From the environment to finding new recipes, many people have passions that even they were unaware of.

If you are unsure, don’t feel disheartened – it can take a while for you to realize what you are passionate about, so spend some free time doing something that you find both enjoyable and productive, and eventually you will discover your life purpose.

5. What kind of conversations do you have with your closest friends?

Most of the time when you are with your loved ones, you only discuss subjects that you actually find interesting and fun. Are there any subjects that you repeatedly bring up to talk about? This is often a great indicator of your life purpose.

As well as the subjects you love to discuss, think about the times your friends have come to you for advice. This shows the areas in which your friends class you as a valuable source of knowledge – it could be something you didn’t even realize you were good at!

6. What is on your bucket list?

What do you want to accomplish before you die? Creating a bucket list is a great way to discover your life purpose, as the list will show you the activities you believe to be important and emotionally fulfilling.

7. If you had a dream, could you make it happen?

Many people have dreams, but choose not to pursue them due to the financial risks or fear of failure. Start thinking about your dream in a more positive light, asking yourself ‘How can I make this happen?’ instead of telling yourself you won’t succeed.

Try to let go of negative thoughts that could hold you back from achieving your life purpose. Instead, try and do something every week that helps you to make your dreams come true.

Things Everyone Needs To Know How To Do

There are those quintessential skills that we can all agree every human should have, including wilderness and survival skills. However, in this day and age, there are another set of skills we should acquire in addition to basic survival skills. Don’t underestimate the importance of being prepared for an emergency. In this list you will find all the skills you need to be self reliant in our information era, as well as emergency related skills.  Here’s some things everyone needs to know how to do.

1. You should know how to swim

If you don’t know how to swim yet, you need to seriously consider learning. There are a number of emergency situations where you might need to swim in order to survive or help someone else in the water.

2. You should know how to defend yourself against single and multiple assailants

Why? Learning self-defense makes you more aware of your surroundings, first of all. You also stop taking physical confrontations for granted. You’re more likely able to avoid a fight effectively if you’ve learned the art of self defense in the first place.

3. You should know how to speak at least one or two languages besides English

Did you know that 75% of the world does not speak English? That’s a lot of people you won’t be able to communicate with if you happen to be in an area where English isn’t their first language.  Expand your horizons and make an effort to communicate with the rest of the world. Start with Chinese!

4. You should know how to be happy

There is a method to this, it’s not an automatically occurring thing- people who are genuinely happy are happy despite their circumstances, not the other way around.

5. You should know how to have a conversation with someone of any age

It’s a sign of true maturity and humanity when a person can hold a quality conversation with a 5 year old or a 92 year old person without flinching. You will also learn so much about life if you do this regularly.

6. You should know how to say “I’m sorry” and “I was wrong.”

You know who you are! Being able to admit your faults once in a while takes effort, practice, and a change of attitude. It can repair broken relationships, heal scars, and bring the conversation back to the important things in life.

7. You should know how to ask for help

It takes guts to do this, and at some point in everyone’s life, they will need some help from somebody.

8. You should know how to control your temper

Holding onto anger, as well as letting anger control your actions usually does more harm to you than good. Learn to let the anger dissipate before reacting. Many angry emails were regrettably sent because of the inability to control our tempers and let the passion die down a bit first.

9. You should know how to perform basic first aid

Someone you care about or even you could get hurt and when you need to disinfect and dress a wound, you’re gonna need to know how to do it right. Sometimes there’s no time to wait for the doctors.
